A warm welcome to the Church of St James

We are a prayerful and welcoming Anglican parish church set in the heart of Gatley village.

We are pleased to welcome Reverend Philip Burrows as our new interim minister for the next 10 months while the parish church of St James’ Gatley is in vacancy.  Philip recently retired as an Army chaplain and, as a local resident, is ideally placed to help us while we continue to look for a new vicar.

Philip is married and has four adult children and four grandchildren under the age of six, which keeps him busy when he is not in the parish.  As an Army veteran, Philip used to enjoy mountain marathons and climbing; now he “can’t keep up anymore” he has started golf lessons!

Philip writes, “In the past, I have helped at St James on an occasional basis when I have been at home.  This part-time post makes sense as it enables St James to offer pastoral support as well as continuity of Sunday and mid-week services.  I am looking forward to meeting you all and to serving the people of Gatley in this way.”
